Hypertension (HTN) or high blood pressure is a chronic medical condition in which the systemic arterial blood pressure is elevated. It is the opposite of hypotension. Persistent hypertension is one of the risk factors for stroke, myocardial infarction, heart failure and arterial aneurysm, and kidney failure.
Hypertension comes associated with high-stress conditions. If it is not controlled effectively, those people who are suffering can experience serious health related problems.
Hypertension is considered an autonomous and a high risk situation for the cardiovascular disease, congestive heart failure and kidney failure. Other factors credited to the hypertension include obesity, genetic vulnerability and high salt intake.
There are two main types of hypertension. If you have hypertension with no easily identifiable cause then it is a primary hypertension, while if you have a specific gene or organ directly responsible for your hypertension then it is a secondary hypertension.
